Homemade Easter Egg Dye

These homemade Easter Egg Dye recipes use natural ingredients such as vegetables, fruit juice, and dried edible flowers to create beautiful and unique egg colors!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Whole Red Cabbage
  • 4 Tbsp White Vinegar Divided
  • 2 Cups Dried Hibiscus/Sorrel
  • 2 Fresh Whole Beets
  • 4 Cups 100% Grape Juice

Instructions
 

Red Cabbage Dye:

  • Chop a whole red cabbage into small pieces.
  • Add the cabbage to a pot and cover it with water.
  • Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Strain the liquid into a glass container and cool completely.
  • Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to set the color.

Dried Hibiscus Dye:

  • Add 2 cups of dried hibiscus flowers to a pot and cover it with water.
  • Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Strain the liquid into a glass container and cool completely.
  • Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to set the color.

Beet Dye:

  • Chop 2 medium-sized beets into small pieces.
  • Add the beets to a pot and cover with water.
  • Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Strain the liquid into a glass container and cool completely.
  • Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to set the color.

Grape Juice Dye:

  • Pour 4 cups of 100% grape juice into a pot.
    Bring to a boil, then let simmer for 30 minutes.
    Strain the liquid into a glass container and cool completely.
    Once cooled, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to set the color.
